Meh, Socratic seminars are horrible for shy people. We did that for a final in Lit before and I nearly failed. :|

For Socratic seminars in small groups, eye contact works. Foreign language discussions using the method are horrid. No exchange of ideas, just people talking of what they think about the prompt.
